Flight request number 5 000 000 went through the Marketplace on Thursday August 9 2012 at 12:15 UTC. This marks another major milestone for the system, which is currently celebrating its tenth year of business.
Some of you may recall the news surrounding our 4 millionth request, which sailed through the system back in January. Less than eight months have passed since that globetrotting request went through, and in that time we’ve seen a steady increase in system use.
Request number 5 000 000, for a flight from Nice Cote D’ Azur Airport in Nice, France to Kazan Airport in Kazan, Russia, comes on the heels of a record-breaking July which saw 205 389 requests pass through the system in just 31 days.
This means that the marketplace clocked an average of 4.6 requests per minute during July 2012. The new record beats the previous monthly high by over 25,000 requests and weighs in at nearly double what the system would see in an average month.
